Station Commander
From 1 December, Superintendent Pule assumes the title of Station Commander. This is part of a move by SAPS to emphasise that senior members are in command of their force.
Station Commander Pule, seen below with some of his team, wishes the Smithfield community a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Youths Arrested for Burglaries
Jobless youths are believed to be responsible for some of the recent burglaries in Smithfield. Three of their number have been arrested and sent to Kroonstad, which is the holding facility for under age children.

Two people were killed and five injured, three seriously, when two cars collided head-on outside Rouxville on Sunday, 20 July. A charge of culpable homicide has been laid by local police.
