Peter and Carla Lohrer, from Holzminden in Germany, passed through Smithfield a couple of weeks ago on their
unusual, low-profile bikes. They had cycled from Namibia and were on their way to Cape Town.

Woman Duped out of R100,000 – at local ATM

A local woman has been duped out of R170,000 and had the alarming experience of her identity being stolen, after being accosted at an ATM machine in Smithfield. The woman told Smiffie she was flustered at the time and did not take the usual precaution of looking around to ensure nobody was nearby.
